General

  • Angel Food Ministry - The Maggie Valley, NC, Host Site for the Angel Food Ministries is located at Maggie Valley United Methodist Church, 4192 Soco Road (U.S. Highway 19). Angel Food distribution for 2007 is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon on the last Saturday of each month except November and December (because of the holidays, the food delivery will be November 17 and December 15). Bring your own cooler or box to pick up your food order. A menu and order form for the current month may be downloaded from this web site.

Adult

There are two opportunities for Bible Study during the week.

  • The Monday group meets at Noon in the Fellowship Hall (bring your own lunch).
  • The Wednesday group meets at 6:30 p.m. for a covered dish meal in Fellowship Hall with Bible stories and craft time for children.

 

Children

  • Adventure Club meets for fun and fellowship, usually on Saturday for an outing or Sundays in the evening. It is a great opportunity for kids to have fun while learning about God. Adventure Club is for kids grades 3-5. Call Keith or Shirley Kelley 926-4001 for more information.

Service

  • First Wednesday at the Open Door involves serving the noon-day meal at the Open Door Ministry. Volutneers are needed to cook, serve, and clean up after the meal. The Open Door is a Christian ministry that feeds the hungry seven days a week using volunteers. They are located on Commerce Street in the Frog Level section of Waynesville. If you want to participate, look for the announcement in the bulletin and then “sign up”. For more information, please call Bill Chamberlin at 926-3478.
  • The Community Outreach Program helps disabled and elderly persons in our community who may need a meal, visit, or other aid. To volunteer for this program, call 828-926-0662 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
  • Open Door Collection Sunday is sponsored by the church the first Sunday of each month. Canned goods and other items are collected to be donated to The Open Door Soup Kitchen. Canned goods and other non-perishable food items are currently needed to replenish the food pantry. If you feel led, bring your donations to the church office.
  • Maggie UMC is involved in mission projects throughout the year including a service project to West Virginia to provide food, clothing, and Christmas gifts to a needy community and service projects to Wyoming and Biloxi to help with building projects.

Music

  • Adult Choir - come and be part of a "joyful noise"! The Maggie UMC choir practices Wednesdays at 6pm and Sundays at 9am
  • Children's Choir - meets Sundays at 4:30pm. For children elementary school aged through high school.

Older Adult

  • Young at Heart, a group for senior fellowship, meets the second Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm.

Men

  • The Men's group meets monthly

Youth

  • Youth group for 7th-12th graders meet Sundays at 5pm
  • Junior youth group for 6th graders mees Sundays at 5:30pm
  • Confirmation class meets at the direction of the pastor (call the church office for more informatin)
