Service to our community and beyond is a calling that we take seriously. We believe that service should be a natural outcome of our relationship with God, so we have several opportunities available. If you would like to help with one of these programs, or if you have an idea for other opportunities, please contact the church office (828) 926-8036.
ATTENTION: Angel Food Ministry has ceased their operation as of October 2011. We regret that this opportunity is no longer available to those in our community. If you need assistance with purchasing food, please contact our Food Pantry through the church office at 828-926-8036.
- First & Fifth Wednesday at the Open Door involves serving the noon-day meal at the Open Door Ministry. Volutneers are needed to cook, serve, and clean up after the meal. The Open Door is a Christian ministry that feeds the hungry seven days a week using volunteers. They are located on Commerce Street in the Frog Level section of Waynesville. If you want to participate, look for the announcement in the bulletin and then “sign up”. For more information, please call Bill Chamberlin at 926-3478.
- Meals on Wheels needs volunteers! Would you be willing to deliver meals in the Maggie area one day weekly? Thelma Franklin and Carolyn Mize have delivered meals on Tuesdays for many years. If you are interested, please speak with Carolyn or Thelma and contact the Program Coordinator, Jeanne Naber at 452-6620 ext. 2442 or email jnaber@dsshaywood.org.
- The Community Outreach Program helps disabled and elderly persons in our community who may need a meal, visit, or other aid. To volunteer for this program, call 828-926-0662 or email info@maggieumc.org.
- Food Pantry - The church collects canned goods and other non-perishable food items to replenish the food pantry. If you feel led, bring your donations to the church office.
Food Pantry Hours of Operation: 10am-noon Mondays and Wednesdays. - Maggie UMC is involved in mission projects throughout the year including a service project to West Virginia to provide food, clothing, and Christmas gifts to a needy community and service projects to Wyoming and Biloxi to help with building projects.
- The Lending Closet provides wheel chairs, crutches and other health aid items to those in the community who need them. To get involved with this ministry call 828-926-3423 or email info@maggieumc.org.
